Area Attractions & Points of Interest

On Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby, you can enjoy sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and fishing. Grand Lake is 500 acres big and is fed from natural flow from snowmelt watersheds coming from the Continental Divide. A canal that allows boat passage connects Grand Lake to Shadow Mountain Lake, a 1,400-acre, shallow reservoir. At 7,256 acres, Lake Granby is the second largest body of water in Colorado.

Year-round recreation for the whole family: fly fishing, horseback riding, boating, golfing, sailing, mountain biking, camping, hiking, ATVing, float fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing.

Grand Lake is famous for its clear, natural lake – the deepest in Colorado – and there are full-service marinas, docks, guided tours and rentals, as well as public boat launches.

Grand Lake is also known nationwide for its 300 miles of snowmobile trails, suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. Grand Lake consistently ranks in the top 10 for snowmobile destinations in the United States, and you can access trails from many of the local lodges, motels, hotels, bed and breakfasts and inns (some of which have onsite rentals).

Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre offers a rousing summer season of musical theatre, and Grand Lake is home to the only bowling alley in Grand County. Cultural events, wine tastings, festivals and fairs are held throughout the year.
